Nokia Lumia 800 - Review

Heya techies,

So, its been a long time since I posted, my last post was about NFC from Nokia, which was posted a long time ago. So, now, I'm back!

Nokia Lumia 800As you may have heard these days about the now Nokia Lumia 800. This latest smartphone from the Finnish phone maker totally revolutionises our thoughts about Nokia. So, here you'll find a review of the mobile.

The review includes the following aspects:

1. Network - GSM, 3G speeds etc
2. Camera - Optics, Recording etc
3. Build Quality - Shape, size, weight
4. Overall Performance - RAM, processor, OS
5. Some secondary features - Display, Apps, Battery etc
6. My views

So, what are you waiting for?

Network: Also know as Sea Ray, The Lumia 800 works awesomely on GSM (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900). Besides this, it also has good 3G compatibility. If you are an avid surfer and geek, then the phone is bound to overcome your needs. While making calls, the voice quality is improved compared to that of N8, E7 and C7.

Camera: Lumia features a 8MP camera with 3264 by 2448 pixels of resolution and autofocus, Carl Ziess Optics and dual LED flash. Its a shame that it doesn't even have the ordinary features like face detections, smile and blink detection etc. (check quality of the camera here). Another weak point is that it doesn't feature a secondary camera, so forget about the video calls, shame.

Build Quality: By dimensions, the Lumia is 116.5 x 61.2 x 12.1 mm, 76.1 cc and weighs 142 g. You have 3 options in colours : Black, Cyan and Magenta.

Overall Performance: Lumia has quite a bit of RAM (512 MB) and a 1.4 Ghz processor. You now maybe will be thinking that it will outperform phones like Galaxy Note and Galaxy S II with a greater processor, but mind you, it has half the RAM, so you wont be able to store much apps in the RAM and it will take more time to load large webpages. Talking of OS, it is, as you know, a Windows phone. It has Windows 7.5 (Mango) which gives Android quite a match. The Lumia lacks Java too.    The phone will only accept MicroSim card only and has 16GB inbuilt memory, with NO memory slot.

Some Secondary Features: It has a 3.7 inch screen with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and 252 pixel per inch (Pixel density, that is). No comparision in Apps, the Lumia looses its point here, for sure. Battery is quite awesome, with 13 hours talktime (265 stand-by) on 2G and 9.5 hours talktime on 3g (335 hours stand-by).

My views: A good phone for some people but the geeks who want surely more than just 16 GB of storage and 512 MB of RAM should look for some other smartphone, this phone is good for people who just want calling, facebooking, texting and minor features like that.

Verdict: 3. 5 stars. (see full specs)

Okay so guys this is all for now, see ya!
